Installation:
The direct installation link is http://www.poortingatrading.com/install/ however, after insallation you will be notified of any software updates with the option to install them automatically.
General Usage Information:
This software connects to the Navigator application from the COM API. The limitations for this are that only once instance of API connectivity may be running and one instance of the Navigator on a single computer. So you may run both the Navigator and this software at the same time but you must have separate logins if connecting to the same account simultaneously. You may have other applications that use the Navigator COM API. If so, you will not be able to operate them at the same time.
Navigator Dependancy:
This software depends on the Navigator for all order/quote handling. It depends on an error free Navigator session. It is not expected that this software will run faster or more stable than the Navigator.
Licensing Limitations:
The standard installation is fully functional with no expiry on demo accounts. After obtaining a license it will operate on a live account. Currently only monthly and yearly lease options are available. A single license is limited to 3 separate installations. Multiple installations are only allowed for the licensed individual or company. If you need help transferring installations from one computer to another, notify support@poortingatrading.com. You are permitted to transfer ownership of a license after notifying Poortinga Trading and receiving confirmation.
Chart:
When you first open the application or add a symbol to your symbol list the software will then start caching ticks for the chart. Historical data is not stored on the hard drive.
General Usage:
FX Order Entry was written in a way that should be intuitive to use without any instructions. To use the Navigator feature tab panels, one should have a familiarity with using the Navigator or look to Navigator documentation. The Navigator tabs usage is the same as in the Navigator and are labeled as:
MAT
Account
MBT Positions
MBT Open Orders
MBT Order Book
MBT Level II
MBT FX Board
The custom tabs, Positions and Open Orders offer similar functionality to the MBT Positions and MBT Open Orders tabs with added one click ease for canceling orders and closing positions. By default these tabs are hidden. They consume slightly more application resource with them running. To show them you should navigate to the main Menu->Settings->Max Performance, uncheck the Max Performance item.
The timer Order Expiry feature has been removed in version 1.0.0.3. It has been replaced with the new order expiry type IOC. IOC combination orders are now supported by MB Trading.
Instant Execution uses limit order types for entry. Using limit orders with a the maximum deviation above the current price is the recommended way to trade through an ECN client rather than using market orders. Setting the Instant Execution order to use the Inner (default) price will help stay out of trades where the spread has gotten too wide. This bases the entry pip deviation from the bid on long entries and the ask for short entries. It is important to note that using the “Close All” button will also cancel any open orders. The single symbol close button will cancel all open orders for that symbol.
Multi Orders:
The Multi Order windows allows one to setup multiple trades and place them all at once. To use the Multi Order feature, navigate to the main Menu->Multi Orders. Configure the trade setup in the main window and then go the the Multi Order window main Menu->Add New. Setup panes are saved as layouts so they can be loaded at a later point in time by pressing the Save Layouts menu item. By enabling the Entire Panel menu item you can press a single buy or sell button to place all of the order setups in the Multi Order pane.
MAT (Managed Account Trading):
MAT allow you to trade all your linked accounts based on the percentage of buying power that you specify. To use MAT trading, navigate to the main Menu->MAT. You will see a new windows added to the lower pane containing the standard Navigator MAT window. You can trade directly from this window or use the FX Order Entry order functionality. You will need to specify your MAT group and MAT percent in the FX Order Entry pane. You can also copy MAT order setups to the Multi Order window. To do this the MAT pane must be activated.
Saving Default Settings:
There are a number of settings that you can change in FX Order Entry. At any point
you an save them so the next time you run the software they will be loaded as defaults.
To save settings navigate to the main Menu->Settings->Save Layout. To reset
the layout press the Reset Layout tab and the next time you open the software the
original defaults will be in effect.
General Troubleshooting:
If there are problems with the software, the first thing to do is to login to the Navigator software and attempt the same action. It is not uncommon to experience issues with the Navigator on demo accounts. Usually this type of issue occurs for a specific time period and possibly results from server maintenance. If there are any issues discovered that occur with this software then forward them to support@poortingatrading.com.
